There are many reasons why you may need a new home for your cat or you want to help a homeless cat.  We get many requests daily for our help to take in a cat to find them a new home. 

 

We will do what we can to help you and your cat, but we may not be able to take the cat into our care straightaway.

 

We will never judge you or your situation and when we cannot help we will do our best to offer you advice.

We need the owner's permission to take the cat in if there is an owner.

​

Due to pressure on foster spaces, we might not be able to take your cat immediately and your details may be placed on a waiting list. We do however treat each case individually.  In an emergy, we may accept cats outside opening times.

If you would like to relinquish a cat to us please complete our relinquish form.

​

We would appreciate it if you could tell us if you no longer need to be on our waiting list once you have emailed us.  If we don’t hear from you, we will assume you continue to need a place and we will contact you once a place becomes available.

Here is some advice on what you can do to ensure they have the best chance of going to a new loving home.

​

• Taking your cat to a local rescue center will give you the peace of mind that your cat will be fully cared for until a new home is found.

​

• At HappyCats Rescue  we fully understand that circumstances can change and respect how much of a difficult but responsible decision it is to bring your cat to us.  We are not here to judge and just have the cat's best interest in mind.

​

• HCR's thorough adoption process means we can ensure they are rehomed with the perfect new family.

​

• HappyCats Rescue will carry out a full behavioural assessment with every animal to help identify any issues.

​

• No matter how desperate the situation is we strongly advise against dumping your cat. This is a lot of stress to put a cat through and there is no guarantee they will be found or that they won't fall into the wrong hands.

​

• If your cat is up to date with its vaccinations and is neutered there will be no charge for taking them into rescue. 

​

• If your cat is not vaccinated and/or neutered there will be a compulsary £25.00 charge for each cat taken into our care. This is to help cover the increasing costs to carry these out at our vets.  This is payable at the time of the cat coming into our care.
